Guro-gu Mayor Jang Inhong Joins Residents in '80th Arbor Day Tree Planting' Ceremony

Guro-gu (District Mayor Jang In-hong) held the '80th Arbor Day Tree Planting Event' with residents in Gung-dong on the 11th of this month.

This event was held to create a fire-resistant forest belt to prevent the spread of wildfires through tree planting with residents and to raise awareness of the importance of creating urban forests.

The event, held in the forest area near the Gung-dong Beekeeping Experience Center, was attended by about 200 people, including Guro-gu Mayor Jang In-hong, local residents, the Saemaeul Leaders Guro-gu Council, the Guro-gu Carbon Neutral Citizens Practice Group, related officials, and workers.

Participants planted over 2,300 fire-resistant trees (such as Cornus, Cornelian cherry, and Sorbus) in a 2,600㎡ forest area.

Guro-gu Mayor Jang In-hong said, "This tree planting event was a meaningful occasion to expand the city's green spaces and create a pleasant living environment," adding, "We will continue to develop into a green city where people and nature coexist harmoniously by expanding green areas."
