In Front of the Residence, Yoon Hugs University Student "Because They Said They Would Place Me in the Front"

Controversy Over Strategic Exposure of Young Supporters

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol attracted the most attention on the afternoon of the 11th as he left the presidential residence in Hannam-dong and returned to his private residence at Acrovista in Seocho-dong, where young supporters wearing university department jumpers showed enthusiastic support. It was revealed that this scene was pre-planned by Yoon’s team and university students belonging to 'Jayudae-hak' (Free University), a nationwide coalition of over 40 universities opposing impeachment.

In Front of the Residence, Yoon Hugs University Student "Because They Said They Would Place Me in the Front" Former President Yoon Seok-yeol is greeting supporters as he leaves the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the 11th and moves to his private residence in Seocho-dong.

The person who disclosed this fact was Kim Jun-hee, the representative of Jayudae-hak. Kim, a student at Hanyang University, said on her YouTube live broadcast about 1 hour and 40 minutes before Yoon left the residence, "I am waiting because they said they would place me at the front," and added, "They said they would form a human chain all the way to the private residence, but I personally was asked by the staff to come this way toward the residence."

This is interpreted as a strategy to use the highly anticipated departure from the residence to expose the youth generation’s active support for former President Yoon. Kim also said, "I am grateful that I was able to be placed at the front." Another on-site official also said, "Young people in their 20s and 30s, please come forward with your ID cards, and when entering, be sure to hold the (Yoon Again) placard." It was also claimed that there was a request to provide placards to young people who did not have one.

Shin Hye-sik, operator of the far-right YouTube channel 'Shinui Hansu' (God’s Hand), also made statements supporting this. "We are recruiting 200 young people to go to the residence to welcome (former President Yoon and his wife). Please line up from teenagers to people in their 40s on both sides," he raised his voice. "The security office contacted us saying identities must be verified. You need to have a resident registration card or driver’s license," he said.

Another host emphasized, citing "a request from the Presidential Security Service," "People in their 50s, 60s, and 70s are not allowed. It’s meaningless for you to stay here. Only young people should remain, and the rest should stand aside. Please go across or stand at the entrance of Hannam Bridge." Appeals to "yield to the young people" continued persistently on site.

Later, Jayudae-hak’s live broadcast showed the process of showing ID cards and passing through fences. Jayudae-hak youth were even guided by security staff holding light batons. Afterwards, they were seen shouting, "Department jumpers to the front, please," while organizing the formation.

On that day, former President Yoon stopped his car in front of the residence at around 5:09 p.m., greeted supporters for about 4 minutes, and then got back into the security vehicle. Dressed without a tie, Yoon embraced young supporters wearing department jumpers from major universities in Seoul and other areas, smiled, waved his hand, and clenched his fist. According to the police, an unofficial estimate of 1,500 people gathered around Hannam-dong.
