Former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jae-myung, received lawsuit documents including the lawsuit record receipt notice sent by the Supreme Court.
According to the legal community on the 11th, Lee received the lawsuit record receipt notice, a copy of the appeal, and a notice regarding the appointment of a public defender, all sent by the Supreme Court, through his office staff the day before.
Previously, on the 31st of last month, the Supreme Court sent Lee the lawsuit record receipt notice, but it was returned due to no one being present and the door being closed (no one at home and door shut). On the 7th, the court requested a court officer to deliver it in person.
Meanwhile, Lee was prosecuted for violating election laws by publicly spreading false information related to allegations of preferential treatment in changing the use of the site of the late Kim Moon-gi, head of Development Division 1 at Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and the Korean Food Research Institute site in Baekhyeon-dong, Seongnam, in 2021. The first trial court sentenced him to a suspended prison term, but the appellate court acquitted him on the 26th of last month.
