"Despite Removal from Office, Calls Grow for Yoon's Re-Arrest Due to Lack of Remorse"

The Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) called for the impeachment of the entire insurrection cabinet that colluded in the December 3 Martial Law Incident and demanded the re-arrest of former President Yoon Sukyeol.

On the afternoon of the 11th, the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the KCTU held a press conference in front of the Gwangju City branch of the Democratic Party in Seo-gu, stating, "It has been a week since former President Yoon was removed from office, but there has been neither reflection nor even an apology. Instead, he is holding out at the official residence, inviting and encouraging supporters, and is engrossed in residence politics through messages."

The headquarters added, "Furthermore, on the 8th, Han Ducksoo nominated Lee Wankyu, the suspect of insurrection, who is the head of the Ministry of Government Legislation, as a candidate for Constitutional Court Justice, plotting another insurrection," and emphasized, "The Democratic Party must immediately impeach Han Ducksoo, Choi Sangmok, and the entire insurrection cabinet."

They continued, "The Democratic Party must clearly explain to the people how it intends to bring an end to the insurrection. The Democratic Party has raised its voice, saying that ending the insurrection takes priority over constitutional amendment," and pointed out, "However, in the video announcing the candidacy of Lee Jaemyung, the leading presidential candidate of the Democratic Party yesterday, not a single word about 'ending the insurrection' was mentioned."

They also stated, "Former President Yoon must be immediately re-arrested. Prosecutor General Shim Ujeong, who legally enabled the jailbreak of insurrection leader Yoon Sukyeol, and Judge Ji Guyon, the presiding judge of the Seoul Central District Court who sympathized with the insurrection, must be held strictly accountable," and added, "The involvement of Prosecutor General Shim Ujeong in the insurrection and his attempt to orchestrate the jailbreak of the insurrection leader must be thoroughly investigated through a special prosecutor, and appropriate punishment must be imposed."

Furthermore, "In order to eradicate political prosecutors, it is not about choosing good prosecutors, but about institutional reform," and added, "The end of the insurrection will be achieved not only by punishing the insurrection forces but also through a major social reform that leaves no room for insurrection."
