Theme: "The Wisdom of Life Measured Through Flowers"
Seo-gu District in Gwangju will hold the 120th Seo-gu Academy on the 14th at 2 p.m. in the Deulbul Hall of the Seo-gu District Office, inviting poet Na Taejoo as a special guest.
According to Seo-gu on the 11th, Na Taejoo, known as the "Wildflower Poet," is a former elementary school teacher who made his literary debut in 1971 with the poem "Under the Bamboo Grove" in the Seoul Shinmun New Year's Literary Contest.
He has received various literary awards, including the Jeong Jiyong Literary Award and the Sowol Poetry Award, and has delivered messages of warm comfort and the beauty of life to readers through works centered on the theme of "flowers."
In particular, he became even more famous with his three-line poem, "You have to look closely to see the beauty / You have to look for a long time to see the loveliness / You are the same," earning him the nickname "Wildflower Poet."
At the Seo-gu Academy, Na Taejoo will deliver messages of happiness and wisdom through poems such as "Wildflower" and "I Look at You as I Look at a Flower," under the theme "The Wisdom of Life Measured Through Flowers."
Lee Hojun, Head of the Happiness Education Division, said, "I hope many residents will attend this academy, which will be a festival of poetry blending spring and flowers, and receive a sense of happiness. We will continue to make efforts to meet the cultural needs of Seo-gu residents."
Meanwhile, to mark the 100th Seo-gu Academy, Seo-gu invited cultural psychologist Kim Jungmoon as a lecturer in 2022, and has since expanded opportunities for residents to enjoy culture by inviting other popular figures such as Hwang Hyunpil, Kim Jedong, Sean, and Ko Myunghwan.
