Lee Jihoon is a singer who has been loved for 29 years since his debut.
Recently, he has been actively working in various fields, including TV Chosun's "Mr. Trot 3," the musical "Notre-Dame de Paris," and the YouTube channel "Jia Life," consistently delivering a positive image through his continuous challenges.
In particular, Lee Jihoon formed a connection with Pohang by performing at the "Yeongilman Startup Day" held in Pohang last year. Additionally, three of his nieces and nephews are currently attending Handong University in Pohang, giving him a special bond with the city.
After marrying his wife Ayane in 2021, Lee Jihoon has been building a happy family with their daughter Ruhee. Including his parents, a total of 19 family members from three generations live together in the same building, earning empathy from many for their warm, family-centered lifestyle.
Pohang City determined that this family-oriented way of life aligns well with the city’s vision and appointed Lee Jihoon as honorary ambassador for two years until April 2027.
The city is currently working to create a city where young people and families want to settle together, through the "Enterprise Innovation Park" pilot project selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Lee's warm, family-centered image is expected to deliver a positive message in addressing social issues such as regional population decline and low birth rates.
The core goal of the "Enterprise Innovation Park" is to create an excellent startup ecosystem along with a pleasant residential and educational environment, providing a foundation for young people and families to grow together and plan for the future.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, "As Lee Jihoon serves as Pohang's honorary ambassador, we expect him to widely promote not only the Enterprise Innovation Park project but also the many charms of Pohang," adding, "His sincere influence will help make Pohang's future vision more familiar to many people."
Since being selected for the Enterprise Innovation Park project last year, Pohang City has been closely cooperating with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, and is speeding up the approval process with the goal of obtaining integrated plan approval in the second half of this year.
