Boseong County to Hold 'Ilimsan Azalea Cultural Event' from the 3rd to 5th of Next Month

Ilimsan in Ungchi-myeon, Home to the Largest Royal Azalea Colony

Boseong County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it will hold the '21st Ilimsan Royal Azalea Cultural Event' from May 3 to 5 at Ilimsan in Ungchi-myeon, which is renowned as the largest royal azalea colony in the country.

Ilimsan, standing at 667 meters above sea level, is a famous mountain at the end of the Honam mountain range embracing the southern sea. In spring, it becomes a representative tourist destination with a breathtaking view of 150 hectares of light pink royal azaleas covering the entire mountain.

In particular, the royal azalea ridgeline harmonizing with the blue sea is often praised as "a picturesque painting," attracting countless hikers and tourists every year.

This year's event is designed as an experiential festival where visitors can enjoy both the nature and culture of Boseong. Various programs will be offered, including a mountain spirit ritual at the summit of Ilimsan wishing for the prosperity and well-being of Boseong County residents, a forest culture photo exhibition depicting the four seasons and ecology of Ilimsan, woodworking activities for families, cypress wood cutting experiences, making tea plant pots, and a local food market featuring fresh agricultural products from Boseong.

A county official stated, "With warm weather and favorable growing conditions, this year's royal azaleas are expected to be more vibrant in color and bloom at the perfect time compared to previous years," adding, "In May, the month of family, we hope you create unforgettable memories with your loved ones at Ilimsan, Korea's top royal azalea destination."

Meanwhile, alongside the '21st Ilimsan Royal Azalea Cultural Event,' the '2025 Integrated Boseong Dahyang Festival' will be held from May 2 to 6 under the theme 'A Millennium Tea Promise Blossoming in Boseong' at the Korea Tea Culture Park and throughout Boseong County.

During the golden holiday in May, the county plans to offer visitors a wide array of cultural and artistic events and hands-on programs, including the Ilimsan Royal Azalea Cultural Event, Boseong County Residents' Day, daily concerts, the Seopyeonje Boseong Sound Festival, the Boseong Marathon, and Children's Day events, allowing everyone to fully experience the true essence of Boseong with all five senses.
