Requested videos from over 10 victims
123 additional cases found on mobile phone
A man in his 20s who induced minors to engage in sexual acts, received recordings from them, and distributed the material has been sentenced to five years in prison.
The 11th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Songhyun) on the 11th sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (including production of sexual exploitation material), to five years in prison. The court also ordered 80 hours of sexual violence treatment programs and a four-year employment restriction at institutions related to children and juveniles.
Mr. A was indicted on charges of approaching more than 10 minors through a mobile phone app, inducing victims to take and send photos and videos of their bodies under the pretense of a "sexual contest," and then possessing or distributing the material to third parties.
The crime was uncovered after one of the child victims filed a complaint, and a total of 123 additional sexual exploitation materials were found on the confiscated mobile phone. However, the court acquitted Mr. A of some charges, stating there was no evidence he directly ordered or coerced certain victims to record the material, and only acknowledged the possession of sexual exploitation material in those cases.
The court explained the sentencing, stating, "Children and juveniles, whose sexual values are not yet properly formed, suffered severe sexual humiliation and psychological pain due to the defendant's actions."
