Smart grid specialist company G2 Power announced on the 11th that it has won the IR52 Jang Young-sil Award with its 'Intelligent AI Distribution Board 2.0.'
The IR52 Jang Young-sil Award, which G2 Power received, is an award system designed to promote technology development in companies with excellent new technology products and technological innovation achievements, as well as to boost the morale of researchers. It is hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Industrial Technology Association and Maeil Business Newspaper, and is awarded through a strict procedure.
Selected as the IR52 Jang Young-sil Award-winning product in the 7th week of this year, the 'Distribution board with partial discharge monitoring and diagnosis function based on deep learning (Intelligent AI Distribution Board 2.0)' features ▲ detection of high-frequency current and UHF band electromagnetic signals ▲ real-time digital signal processing ▲ use of deep learning algorithms ▲ accurate diagnosis of the presence and type of partial discharge, enabling it to detect finer defects than existing AI distribution boards.
G2 Power has applied for NEP new product certification for the Intelligent AI Distribution Board 2.0 and aims to obtain NEP certification through evaluation in the first half of this year.
The distribution board is an essential power equipment device that converts ultra-high voltage electricity from Korea Electric Power Corporation into low voltage for safe use in buildings and facilities and supplies it stably. If safety management is weak, it can lead to major fires.
Lee Dong-jun, Vice President (CTO) of G2 Power, said, "The Intelligent AI Distribution Board 2.0 has secured world-class technology with complex AI based on deep learning using big data," adding, "With the launch of the Intelligent AI Distribution Board 2.0 in 2025, we expect to solidify our leading position in the smart grid power equipment market."
The growth of the AI industry has drawn attention to the importance of data centers to support the explosive increase in data usage due to the commercialization of data-intensive technologies such as generative AI platforms, autonomous driving, humanoid robots, and smart factories. Governments and companies worldwide are rapidly expanding data center construction. G2 Power’s AI Distribution Board 2.0 is expected to play an important role in securing the stability of power equipment and preventing accidents.
Vice President Lee said, "We plan to expand the application scope of G2 Power’s partial discharge AI agent technology for power equipment to all industrial fields such as civil engineering, architecture, machinery, defense, and SOC (social overhead capital), and enter the domestic and international industrial diagnostic markets."
