Various events to be held, including a fan signing event with National Baduk Champion Lee Changho
Hana Bank announced on the 11th that it will hold the '2025 Hana Bank Children's Baduk Festival' for children nationwide to expand the base of Baduk (Go).
This festival, which brings together elementary school students and preschool children who are aspiring Baduk players from across the country, will be held on May 24 at the Indoor Gymnasium of the 100th Anniversary Hall at the University of Seoul. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Hana Bank mobile app Hana One Q from April 17 to May 12, and participation is free of charge.
The festival, which will be held in one day from preliminaries to finals, will recruit a total of 676 children Baduk players across 10 categories including the strongest division, dan player division, advanced division, beginner-intermediate division, 5-person random team competition, and a kindergarten division for preschool children. All participating children will receive souvenirs, and those who place will be awarded trophies, medals, and prizes.
In celebration of Family Month, Hana Bank has also prepared various events. A fan signing event with Lee Chang-ho, the "Legend of Korean Baduk" and National Baduk Champion (Guk-su), will be held to create special memories not only for the participating children but also for their families. Additionally, 20 participants will be selected by lottery to receive a calligraphy fan signed by Lee Chang-ho.
Moreover, at the on-site booth of Hana Bank’s experiential financial platform for the Alpha generation, 'iBuja,' generous gifts such as children's economic books, iBuja reusable bags, and reward gift coupons will be provided. Furthermore, by participating in the Hana Bank official Instagram friend sharing event, attendees will have a chance to win tickets to the movie 'Seungbu,' which is based on the true story of Lee Chang-ho.
A Hana Bank official stated, "We planned this festival so that children can develop their thinking skills and concentration through Baduk and gain learning opportunities through enjoyable competition. We hope that the children and families participating in this festival held in May, the month of family, will create happy memories."
Meanwhile, Hana Bank is making various efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of K-Baduk, including sponsoring the 'Hana Bank Baduk Super Match,' which has been expanded into a comprehensive competition starting this year. The Super Match tournament, which last year was limited to the MZ generation but has removed participant restrictions this year, is currently underway with intense competition among Baduk masters vying for the top prize of 75 million KRW.
In addition, Hana Bank continues steady support to enhance Korea’s sports competitiveness, including official sponsorship of the South Korean national soccer team and title sponsorship of the professional K League soccer. The bank also operates the Hana Bank Women’s Basketball Team and supports luge and roller sports, demonstrating sincere efforts to expand the domestic sports culture base.
