Osan City Library in Gyeonggi-do is preparing cultural events to celebrate 'Library Day' and Library Week.
On the 12th, Library Day, the city will operate a 'Double Day' event at all public libraries, doubling the number of books that can be borrowed from the usual 7 to 14.

The Central Library, the city's representative library, will hold experiential events every weekend for family visitors, including storytelling, children's magic experiences, family magic shows, and exhibitions by local authors.
Ggumdure Library has prepared activities such as book picnics, citizen exploration schools, and coding classes for toddlers centered around the Reading Camping Park. On the 18th and 19th, it will hold a '1 Night 2 Days Reading Camp.' The Reading Camping Park is designed with the concept of a 'reading campsite' and is equipped with eight camping cabins and outdoor restrooms.
Yangsan Library will hold the 'Mysterious Library Attic Performance' on the 12th, combining magic and reading promotion. Chopyeong Library will host senior-focused events for a month, including a senior book exhibition, large-print book promotion, picture book recommendation exhibitions, and distribution of life diaries. On the 15th, a reading experience lecture for elementary school students will also be held.
Soriul Library, a musical instrument specialty library, has prepared stages blending music and performances, such as 'Dancing Percussion, Enchanted by Magic' on the 13th and 'Comic Juggling Show Show Show' on the 30th.
Hetsalmaru Children's Library plans to issue reading passbooks, previously only available to children, to adults as well through the 'Adults Want Reading Passbooks Too' event. On the 13th, a performance combining sand art and magic will also take place.
Meanwhile, this year, the city plans to promote workplace reading culture by benchmarking excellent libraries outside the area for all city employees. Additionally, in collaboration with the Osan Cultural Foundation, Cultural Center, Education Foundation, Children's Library Research Association, and Gyeonggi-do Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute, the city will promote public-private reading culture advancement projects.
Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, said, "We will make libraries function not just as simple book lending spaces but as cultural and communication spaces where the whole family can enjoy together."
