The first-ever 'Integrated Expo' created together by social economy entities will be held in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 10th, Suwon City announced that it will host the '1st Suwon Special City Social Economy Expo' at the Suwon Convention Center from July 29 to 30, under the slogan "Hopeful Society! Economy Running Again!".
The social economy expo, involving social enterprises, cooperatives, village enterprises, and self-support enterprises, is an event where each entity shares the vision and policies of the social economy and pioneers sales channels for their products. The event is hosted by Suwon City and organized by the Suwon Urban Foundation Social Economy Support Center and the Suwon Regional Self-Support Center.
The social economy expo will be conducted through official events, exhibitions, and side events. The official events include the opening ceremony (July 29) and the Self-Support Day commemorative ceremony (July 30).
The exhibition will introduce social economy-related policies and promote social values through booths. Visitors can view, purchase, and experience products from social economy enterprises at these booths. The expo will focus on promoting products and services from regionally specialized companies. Major policies of Suwon City will also be introduced.
Side events include academic events, citizen participation programs, networking among social economy entities, performances, and other events.
The social economy expo is an integrated expo created through public-private cooperation. Suwon City plans to form a 'Public-Private Joint Promotion Committee' consisting of public officials, social economy entities, collaborative organizations, and the National Council of Social Solidarity Economy Local Governments.
Under the leadership of the Public-Private Joint Promotion Committee, detailed plans for the expo will be finalized, and key matters will be discussed and decided.
Suwon City plans to actively promote the expo to member local governments nationwide in collaboration with the National Council of Social Solidarity Economy Local Governments, so that social economy entities across the country can participate in the expo.
A Suwon City official said, "The social economy expo will be an opportunity for social economy entities in Suwon City to share their vision and pioneer sales channels for their products," adding, "We hope that social economy entities not only from Suwon but from across the country will participate in the expo together."
