"Please Park Trucks in the Back"... Apartment Resident's Handwritten Note Sparks Debate

Conflict Arises Over Truck Parking
at an Apartment Complex in Gwangju

"This is the face of our apartment."

A handwritten note placed on the windshield of a truck in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Gwangju has sparked debate online. Although the wording was polite, interpretations of its intent are divided.

According to an online community on the 9th, a post titled "An Unreasonable Apartment in Buk-gu, Gwangju" was uploaded the previous day. The author stated, "I'm not the owner of the vehicle, I just happened to pass by," and shared photos of the truck and the note in question. The handwritten note read, "The entrance to the apartment is the face of our home," and requested, "Please park trucks in the rear parking lot, at your company, or in a logistics warehouse."

The author added, "The truck was parked neatly within the parking lines, at the edge, and it was a properly registered vehicle," expressing disbelief that such a note had been left regardless. The author further explained that the apartment complex "is a small-scale complex nearly 30 years old, and compared to neighboring complexes, it is older and its market value is lower." He criticized, "I can't understand why people in a smaller, older apartment would be concerned about appearances and feel embarrassed about a truck."

Online users were divided in their opinions. Some criticized, saying, "Leaving a note on a properly parked vehicle is an abuse of power," and "It's even more embarrassing to care about appearances in a 30-year-old apartment." Others argued, "Large vehicles can obstruct traffic," and "Trucks should be parked in a separate area."

As the controversy grew, the author additionally shared photos showing the actual parking of the truck with the note attached. The vehicle was parked neatly within the lines, and there appeared to be sufficient space between it and other vehicles. The author claimed, "The vehicle with the note was clustered in front of a particular building, and it seems likely that the person who left the note is a resident of that building."
