for Contributing to Cargo Volume Growth
and Digital Innovation

Last year, despite unprecedented challenges such as the prolonged Red Sea crisis and uncertainty surrounding the US presidential election, Busan Port handled a record-high cargo volume of 24.4 million TEUs, a 5.4% increase from the previous year, maintaining its position as the world’s 7th largest container port.
BPA highly valued the cooperation and contributions of shipping companies that formed the foundation for these achievements, selecting a total of five companies?MSC, ONE, HMM, Heung-A Line, and Chun Kyung Shipping?as recipients of the appreciation plaques.
MSC became the first shipping company calling at Busan Port to achieve 4 million TEUs, setting a record for the highest cargo volume handled by a single company and further solidifying Busan Port’s status as a global logistics hub.
ONE contributed to Busan Port’s export and import cargo volumes by ranking first for two consecutive years in handling export and import cargo, thanks to stable capacity supply and strategic route operations despite the volatile global shipping environment.
Heung-A Line showed the largest increase in cargo volume among domestic shipping companies, and Chun Kyung Shipping contributed to stabilizing the Japan feeder network?which forms the backbone of Busan Port’s competitiveness?by continuously operating Japan routes despite declining profitability and the reduction of calls by global shipping companies.
In particular, HMM made a significant contribution to the digital innovation of Busan Port by taking the lead in participating in ‘Busan Port Port-i’.
BPA President Song Sangkeun stated, “The continuous growth and competitiveness of Busan Port have been possible thanks to the efforts and dedication of the shipping companies and terminal operators using Busan Port,” adding, “We will do our utmost to strengthen Busan Port’s global competitiveness and promote sustainable development through close cooperation with shipping companies and terminal operators.”
