Polaris Office Group is strengthening its position in the education market by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Through a 'Vertical AI Strategy' aimed at creating AI demand across various industries via strategic collaboration and technology adoption at the group level, the company is exploring new opportunities and now aims to expand into the AI edutech market.
Polaris Office has steadily expanded its education solution business through various collaborations. A representative example is the public education digital transformation support project conducted in partnership with the Gyeongnam Office of Education and Naver.
In this process, the future education support platform 'iTalkTalk' was supplied with 'Polaris Office Edu' based on the Naver Whale browser, supporting a blended online and offline learning environment and commercializing digital education infrastructure.
In 2023, the 'Polaris Office Edu' app was pre-installed on the educational device 'Whalebook,' based on the Naver Whale OS, further enhancing the digital learning environment. This allows users to freely open and edit MS Office and Hangul (HWP) documents on the web without installing separate software, significantly increasing usability in educational settings.
Recently, the group has further solidified its position in the education market with the launch of an electronic whiteboard based on Whale OS Flex. In collaboration with Hyundai IT and Smart Touch, a customized electronic whiteboard equipped with the Naver Whale operating system (OS) Flex, scheduled for release next month, has been commercialized. It can operate on low-spec PCs and supports screen handwriting and document editing through integration with 'Polaris Office.'
This is the result of Polaris Office’s technological expertise, derived from supplying document viewer solutions to Samsung Electronics’ 'Tizen' OS and electronic whiteboard specialist Hyundai IT, enhancing document usability across various devices and providing an intuitive document viewing environment.
Additionally, Polaris Office Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with VibeOn, an AI edutech specialist well known for 'SaenggibuOn.' Through this collaboration, they are jointly developing AI education solutions that combine AI technology with Polaris Office’s document engine technology.
Its affiliate, Polaris AI, also plans to target the AI edutech market through the electronic whiteboard business. Currently, it is supplying electronic whiteboards to early childhood education institutions nationwide in cooperation with MetaEdu and is exploring possibilities for expansion into various educational fields through collaboration with Polaris Office.
A representative of Polaris Office Group stated, "We plan to further strengthen Polaris Office Group’s competitiveness in the education solution market by utilizing AI technology," adding, "We will expand AI-related sales by providing AI solutions across various industries."
Meanwhile, Polaris Office Group has established an AI Convergence Research Institute centered on Polaris Office, which collaborates with various AI companies such as Naver Cloud and LG AI Research Institute. Through affiliates in diverse industries, including Polaris Sewon, Polaris Uno, Polaris AI, and Polaris AI Pharma, the group is pursuing vertical AI that applies AI across the entire industry, promoting mutual growth within the group.
