70s Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for 40 Years of Raping Daughter and Granddaughter Born During That Time

Court: "Firm Denial of Crimes, Questionable Remorse"

A man in his 70s who sexually assaulted his own daughter for 40 years and also assaulted his granddaughter, who was born during that period, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court, Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Jeon Kyungho), on the 7th, sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted and detained on charges including violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (rape by a relative), to 25 years in prison.

Mr. A was found to have sexually assaulted his daughter, Ms. B, 277 times from 1985 until last year, and is also accused of sexually assaulting Ms. C, his biological daughter and granddaughter born during this period.

The court stated, "The defendant deprived the victims of the opportunity to lead ordinary and happy lives," and added, "It is questionable whether he feels any remorse, as he adamantly denies the crimes, saying 'I don't remember.'"

Meanwhile, Mr. A filed an appeal immediately after the sentencing, disagreeing with the court's decision.
