Gwangyanghyanggyo, 59th Head Park Nohoe Inaugurated

"Striving to Create New Values by Following Tradition"

Gwangyang Hyanggyo in Jeonnam held an inauguration and retirement ceremony for the Jeonggyo, Yudohoe President, and Doyusa at the Gwangyang Yurim Hall on the 7th.


About 100 people attended the event, including Gwangyang Mayor Jung Inhwa, provincial and city council members, Hyanggyo Yurim members, and local officials. The ceremony proceeded in the following order: presentation of certificates of appreciation, farewell speeches, delivery of the Hyanggyo regular report, inauguration speeches, words of encouragement, and congratulatory remarks.

Through this inauguration and retirement ceremony, the 58th Jeonggyo Ahn Youngchun, the 30th Yudohoe President Kim Okki, and the 166th Doyusa Kang Kyunghyu stepped down, while the 59th Jeonggyo Park Nohoe, the 31st Yudohoe President Yeom Gyuseon, and the 167th Doyusa Yang Jaeseok newly took office.


The new Jeonggyo Park Nohoe has long been at the forefront of community development through various activities in the region, including serving as President of the Gwangyang Prosperity Association and Director of the Gwangyang Cultural Center.


In his inauguration speech, Park Nohoe stated, "I will strive to make Gwangyang Hyanggyo an institution that follows tradition while creating new values, embodying the spirit of 'Beopgo Changsin.' I will also work to ensure that the Hyanggyo serves as both a place of rest and learning for citizens."


Meanwhile, Gwangyang Hyanggyo has steadfastly maintained its place since the Joseon Dynasty, overcoming numerous crises such as wars and fires. It has established itself as an important cultural heritage representing the region's history and culture, and as a historical institution that carries on tradition.
