County-wide Public Relations and Signature Campaign
Launched at Uiryeong Traditional Market Area on the 8th
Uiryeong County in Gyeongnam launched a large-scale public relations and signature campaign for the extension of the Nam-Buk 6-axis Expressway section from Hapcheon to Uiryeong to Haman on the 8th, centered around the Uiryeong Traditional Market area.
The Nam-Buk 6-axis Expressway is a key axis of the national arterial road network. Unlike other planned north-south routes that connect to the Namhae Expressway, this route connects to the Hamyang-Ulsan Expressway, raising concerns that Uiryeong and the western inland areas of Gyeongnam could be left behind.
Previously, on the 13th of last month, Uiryeong County signed an agreement at the Uiryeong County Office with Haman County Mayor Cho Geunje and Hapcheon County Mayor Kim Yuncheol, adopting a joint statement emphasizing the necessity of the expressway extension and agreeing to actively seek cooperation from the government and related agencies.
County Mayor Oh Taewan stated, "The Nam-Buk 6-axis must pass through Uiryeong and connect directly to the Haman IC section of the Namhae Expressway in order to truly achieve balanced regional development, improved logistics accessibility, and greater transportation efficiency. Since the three counties of Uiryeong, Haman, and Hapcheon are in complete agreement on the necessity of this project, we will make every joint effort to achieve tangible results."
Meanwhile, Uiryeong County is strengthening its connections with Uiryeong natives residing across the country, continuing the signature campaign and promotional activities in the Seoul metropolitan area and major cities, and is planning to expand promotional activities online in the future.
