Dongsung Pharmaceutical Accelerates Development of Fermented Hangchil and Dangyuja New Materials for Hangover Relief

Dongsung Pharmaceutical (CEO Na Won-gyun) has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'Small and Medium Enterprise Technology Innovation Development Project' and has officially begun developing a hangover relief agent using domestically sourced natural materials.

This project, titled "Development and Commercialization Research of Functional Materials for Hangover Relief Using Domestic Natural Resources," is being jointly conducted with Idle Plus, DCN Bio, and NeoNutra. The research will continue until September, with a total R&D budget of 570 million KRW.

The lead research institute, Idle Plus, has previously obtained a patent for a "composition for liver protection or liver function improvement containing fermented extracts of Hwangchil and Dangyuja." Through this project, scientific evidence for the hangover relief effects of this material is being secured. Dongsung Pharmaceutical has demonstrated the hangover relief effect through animal testing and plans to actively pursue commercialization domestically and internationally based on these results.

Microbiome specialist company DCN Bio is participating in the joint development of the hangover relief agent, while health functional food specialist NeoNutra is conducting human application trials for functional certification.

Dongsung Pharmaceutical has launched Hovenia Dulcis Good Morning in domestic pharmacies and is actively exporting to Southeast Asia. Recently, it has also passed clinical trials and officially obtained functional certification for hangover relief.

A representative from Dongsung Pharmaceutical stated, "Through this government-supported project, after completing human application trials for hangover relief using domestically produced Hwangchil and Dangyuja, we plan to develop and launch new hangover relief products and health functional foods."

Meanwhile, the Small and Medium Enterprise Technology Innovation Development Project is a government-supported program led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, designed to promote the growth of SMEs with high technological potential and strengthen their technological competitiveness.
