Citizen-Centered Policies Also Highly Praised
Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province has been awarded the 'Excellence Award' in the '2025 Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation' (based on 2024 performance) conducted by North Gyeongsang Province.
This evaluation was carried out for 22 cities and counties within the province, assessing the overall local tax administration performance for 2024. The evaluation indicators consisted of 24 items in 5 categories, including △settlement of local tax arrears △management of non-tax revenues △local tax relief △bonus and penalty points, and others.
Yeongju City was highly praised for significantly improving its local tax collection performance by actively managing tax sources through planned investigations into tax evasion, operating a responsible collection system for high-value delinquents, and carrying out tailored collection activities for each delinquent taxpayer.
The city also received positive evaluations for actively implementing citizen-oriented special measures, such as comprehensive clean-up of closed business licenses, sending out post-management notices for local tax reductions, and introducing a pre-registration system for local tax refunds.
Kim Junhan, head of the Taxation Division, said, "This award is thanks to the hard work of our staff who have dedicated themselves to tax administration," and added, "We will continue to discover and implement various excellent policies to repay the citizens who have faithfully paid their local taxes despite difficult circumstances."
