Construction Company CEOs Ensure Safety On-Site... Samsung, Hyundai, Daewoo Launch 6-Week Campaign

The Korea Construction Association announced on the 9th that it will conduct a relay campaign over six weeks from mid-this month to next month to prevent fall accidents and promote a safety culture.

The campaign will involve the CEOs of six major construction companies affiliated with the association, including Samsung C&T, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Daewoo E&C, GS Engineering & Construction, SK Ecoplant, and Hanwha. The association stated that the event was planned to practically spread a safety culture at frontline sites.

Each company CEO will visit construction sites sequentially every week to communicate with onsite workers and conduct safety inspections. The association expects this to be an opportunity to spread a management culture that prioritizes safety by directly inspecting temporary scaffolding and blind spots in safety monitoring, as well as identifying safety vulnerabilities together with workers.

An association official said, "It is highly meaningful that six major construction companies are voluntarily leading this campaign," adding, "We will continue ongoing safety inspections and preventive activities."

Earlier, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport-led public-private joint task force discussed various measures, and the government announced fall accident prevention measures in February. To foster a culture that prioritizes safety throughout the construction industry, public enterprises such as Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Korea Expressway Corporation started participating, followed by frontline construction companies.
