The Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Special Zone Foundation) is taking steps to establish a full-cycle cooperation system in the semiconductor industry.
On the 9th, the Special Zone Foundation announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for 'Semiconductor Technology Development and Industrial Ecosystem Creation' with 11 organizations including SK Ecoplant, KAIST, Hannam University, Korea Science and Technology Holdings, and SK Securities at the 56th Anniversary Hall of Hannam University the previous day.

The agreement was made with the goal of discovering and nurturing promising startups in the comprehensive semiconductor service sector through cooperation among key institutions representing industry, academia, research institutes, and public organizations, and creating a sustainable industrial ecosystem based on public-private cooperation.
The participating organizations will mutually cooperate in joint efforts to activate the semiconductor open innovation program, discover and support the growth of innovative companies in comprehensive semiconductor services, and provide support linked to investment attraction for discovering and nurturing startups in the semiconductor field.
In particular, through this agreement, the Special Zone Foundation plans to discover technologies specialized in the semiconductor industry and contribute to creating a virtuous cycle ecosystem in the semiconductor industry through organic cooperation with large corporations, public institutions, and research institutes.
Jung Hee-kwon, Director of the Special Zone Foundation, said, "We expect to achieve synergy effects by strengthening cooperation among industry, academia, research, and government through this agreement," adding, "We will spare no effort to support promising deep-tech companies within the special zone to achieve innovative growth in collaboration with large corporations and public institutions, and to create a virtuous cycle ecosystem in the semiconductor industry."
