Kim Dong-yeon Declares Presidential Candidacy on 9th: "The People Who Worry About the Country Are My Faction and Organization"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon officially declared his candidacy for the 21st Republic of Korea presidential election to be held in June.

On the morning of the 9th at 9 a.m., Governor Kim held a press conference at Incheon International Airport before an urgent departure to the United States to prepare a tariff response strategy against the Trump administration, stating, "A mere change of government is not enough; a change beyond the change of government is necessary."

He emphasized, "We must become a 'nation for all' where the rights and dignity of each citizen are respected and national energy is united, and a 'developed country of my life' where a person's lifetime holds dignity, matching the world's top 10 economic scale."

He also said, "We must create a society where 'common sense and conscience put food on the table,'" proposing, "Let us set right the common sense and conscience dying before money and vested interests, and build a society where loopholes and illegality do not work, where honest people, hardworking people, and considerate people live well together."

Furthermore, he appealed, "Now is the era to create a 'dream country,' not a 'convenience country,'" adding, "Along with ending the civil war, we must also end politics akin to a civil war, and it is time to revive the sinking economy and people's livelihoods."

He went on to say, "I will step down from power and take the lead in reforming vested interests," and revealed, "I will play the role of a primer to open the door to the 7th Republic with a four-year renewable decentralized presidential system, a runoff voting system, and a three-year reduction in the presidential term to align with the general election and election cycles."

He also promised, "I will reorganize the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the prosecution to the level of dismantlement, and abolish the 'former official cartel' in the public service and legal circles, including restrictions on employment at law firms," and "I will also change the political arena filled with vested interests of the 'two major parties' through election system reform, abolition of parliamentary privileges, and introduction of political vouchers."

Governor Kim added, "I will draw out a historic social consensus to end inequality," and "With an 'economic grand coalition,' I will redraw the map of the people's lives and the Korean economy."

He then presented ▲ a 'big deal for opportunity economy' where large corporations provide jobs, workers accept flexibility, and the government offers regulatory reforms ▲ a 'regional balance big deal' to create 10 large corporate cities ▲ a 'climate economy big deal' investing 400 trillion won in the climate industry ▲ a 'care economy big deal' to prevent care-related murders through a national responsibility system for caregiving ▲ and a 'tax-fiscal big deal' to secure 200 trillion won in finances by stopping tax cuts and adjusting the national debt ratio.

He also stated, "I will not make rosy lies with promises that cannot be fulfilled," and "I will not pursue populist policies or irresponsibly overuse tax cuts."

In conclusion, Governor Kim said, "I have no faction, no organization, and I am not well-versed in political engineering, but the people who worry about the country are my faction, and the people who worry about the economy are my organization," promising, "During this presidential election period, I will create a breeze with a '3 no 3 yes' campaign?no negativity, no flashy mammoth campaign headquarters, and no mobilization of organizations."
