Gyeonggi Province has given final approval to Anyang City's 'Basic Plan for the Maintenance of the Aging Planned City in Pyeongchon, Dongan-gu, Anyang.' This is the third approval following Bucheon Jungdong and Gunpo Sanbon in December last year.
Since the enforcement of the 'Special Act on Maintenance and Support of Aging Planned Cities' in April last year, Gyeonggi Province has been receiving self-maintenance basic plans from local governments with first-generation new towns and deciding on their approval.
In the recent review of the Anyang Pyeongchon basic plan, Gyeonggi Province comprehensively examined various issues including ▲appropriateness of the planned population setting ▲whether infrastructure capacity is met ▲measures to strengthen self-sufficiency functions ▲expansion of social overhead capital (SOC) ▲and management plans for relocation demand.
Gyeonggi Province has enhanced the completeness of the plan through multiple consultations with Anyang City while minimizing delays in the review process to shorten the time until the approval of the maintenance basic plan. With this approval, Anyang City can now officially begin subsequent procedures such as establishing a special maintenance plan.
Additionally, Bundang in Seongnam City, which was reviewed together in December last year, was conditionally approved due to deficiencies in city ordinances, and final approval will be granted after conditions are met. Approval procedures are currently underway for Ilsan in Goyang City, which submitted an approval application in March.
Son Im-seong, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Gyeonggi Province has cooperated from the initial stages to ensure that the maintenance basic plans established by each local government are smoothly approved," adding, "We will continue to provide administrative support so that maintenance projects aimed at improving the residential environment of first-generation new town residents are systematically promoted."
