Wolsong Headquarters Holds Public Hearing on Continued Operation of Wolsong Units 2, 3, and 4

A Step Toward Building Trust in Nuclear Power Plants Approaching the End of Their Design Life

On the 8th, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Wolseong Headquarters held a public hearing for local residents on the draft of the Radiological Environmental Impact Assessment for the continued operation of Wolseong Units 2, 3, and 4 at the KHNP Pureumoetaek Sports Complex in Munmu-daewang-myeon, Gyeongju.

The hearing was attended by 670 citizens of Gyeongju and proceeded in the following order: an explanation of the draft Radiological Environmental Impact Assessment for the continued operation of Wolseong Units 2, 3, and 4, a summary of key opinions from the public review, and responses to statements from local residents.


Jung Wonho, Head of Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters, said, "I hope today's public hearing will further reassure residents about the safety of the radiological environmental impact from the continued operation of Wolseong Units 2, 3, and 4."


KHNP plans to include the opinions presented by residents at the public hearing in the Radiological Environmental Impact Assessment for continued operation and submit it to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.
