On the 8th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam donated 39 million won to the Korean Red Cross to support the recovery efforts for the wildfire damage in the Sancheong and Hadong areas.
All employees of Changwon Special City donated 39 million won in support funds for wildfire damage in Sancheong and Hadong.
This donation originated from the desire for a swift return to daily life in Sancheong and Hadong, which have been declared special disaster zones. More than 5,000 employees of Changwon Special City, as well as the city council and all staff from six affiliated organizations (▲Changwon Institute for Policy Studies ▲Changwon Industry Promotion Agency ▲Changwon Facilities Management Corporation ▲Changwon Leisure Sports Park ▲Changwon Welfare Foundation ▲Changwon Cultural Foundation), voluntarily participated, raising a total of 30 million won, the largest amount ever collected in Changwon. The carefully gathered donations will be used to help affected residents through the Gyeongnam branch of the Korean Red Cross.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon, said, "I hope this small gesture brings some comfort and hope to those who lost their homes to the wildfire. Changwon Special City will stand together with Sancheong and Hadong as they return to their vibrant daily lives," adding, "I sincerely thank all the employees who willingly joined this effort."
Meanwhile, on March 24, Changwon Special City visited its sister cities, Sancheong-gun and Changnyeong-gun, to deliver relief supplies and food worth about 20 million won, including towels, shampoo, and toothbrush sets, to wildfire victims. The city also visited the joint incense altar to pay tribute to the victims, and with this donation, continues to support the swift recovery of the affected areas.
