Incheon City will establish and modify 10 city bus routes this year, including routes on Yeongjongdo Island.
The city announced on the 8th that, following a recent review by the Bus Policy Committee, it has decided to create 6 new city bus routes and change 4 existing routes. The new city bus routes include 3 in Seo-gu (scheduled for October), 1 in Bupyeong-gu (scheduled for October), and 2 on Yeongjongdo Island (scheduled for December).
The Yeongjongdo routes are planned to operate between Seoknam-dong in Seo-gu, Cheongna, and Incheon International Airport, as well as between Luwon City, Cheongna, and Yeongjong Haneul City, coinciding with the opening of the Third Yeongryuk Bridge at the end of this year.
The new routes in Seo-gu will expand city bus services in large apartment complex development areas such as Geomdan New Town and Gyeongseo District.
An official from Incheon City stated, "This route reorganization is a measure to respond to the changing transportation environment and public transit demand due to the opening of the Third Yeongryuk Bridge and the move-in of large-scale new apartments," adding, "We plan to continuously adjust and improve the city bus route system focusing on citizen convenience."
