Expert Working Group Meeting Held
to Foster the UAM Industry

On the 8th, Pyeongtaek City and the Pyeongtaek Industry Promotion Agency held an expert working group meeting at the Pyeongtaek Port Marine Center to foster the Pyeongtaek-type Urban Air Mobility (UAM) industry.

The working group is an organization composed of experts from industry, academia, research, and government, formed to ensure the smooth progress of the project after the city was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Future-type Complex Transfer Center Pilot Project' in 2023.

At the meeting, discussions on the city's UAM industry development strategy were held based on presentations on ▲Airspace and corridor analysis results for UAM application completed last year (Innosky) and ▲K-UAM Grand Challenge Dream Team consortium promotion cases (Korea Airports Corporation).

Pyeongtaek City designated Pyeongtaek Jije Station as the target site for the future-type complex transfer center and shared the comprehensive UAM industry roadmap plan, including the site analysis results of candidate vertiport locations centered on Pyeongtaek Jije Station and Pyeongtaek Port, which were promoted for this purpose. In addition, they analyzed Korea Airports Corporation's Korean-style UAM demonstration and local government UAM introduction cases to discuss the introduction plan for Pyeongtaek-type UAM. Especially at this meeting, they decided to prepare measures to promote the creation of an ecosystem linked with the city's strategic industries of hydrogen and future vehicles.

Jang-seon Jeong, Mayor of Pyeongtaek City, said, "UAM will provide new opportunities for regional economic growth by linking with the hydrogen and future vehicle industries beyond simple transportation innovation," and added, "We will continuously support Pyeongtaek City to establish itself as a leading UAM city."
