Gwangju, a leading city in artificial intelligence (AI), is drawing attention by introducing its second AI staff member, the 'AI Spokesperson,' following the first, 'AI Dangjigi.'

According to the city on the 8th, the 'AI Spokesperson,' which drafts press release templates as a core channel for public communication, has been introduced to improve work efficiency and productivity among employees while simultaneously accelerating digital administrative innovation based on artificial intelligence.

The city has hired its second AI staff member, the 'AI Spokesperson,' to allow any employee to easily create press releases. The 'AI Spokesperson' is an AI chatbot service based on ChatGPT that automatically generates a draft when only key information is entered, reflecting press release templates, writing standards, and expression guidelines. It was developed in-house this year by public officials in the Data Informatization Division without additional budget.

In particular, it is expected to enhance the completeness of press releases by providing various press release templates for different situations and offering an automatic spelling correction feature. Through the 'AI Spokesperson' service, the city expects employees to strengthen their press release writing skills and improve work efficiency.

The 'AI Spokesperson' is significant in that it applies artificial intelligence to the task of drafting press releases, moving beyond the simple automation of documents or limited functions such as basic consultation or civil complaint guidance, which was the traditional use of AI technology.

Lee Byungcheol, Director of Planning and Coordination, said, "With the second AI staff member, the 'AI Spokesperson,' we can now improve both the quality and speed of press release writing," adding, "We will continue to expand the use of AI technology for administrative innovation and actively introduce AI technology throughout administration to realize citizen-centered, citizen-oriented AX administration."

Meanwhile, the city previously took the lead in administrative innovation by introducing the 'AI Dangjigi,' which was specially hired for the first time among metropolitan cities in August last year, handling 84% of duty-related civil complaints. The 'AI Dangjigi' plays a major role in improving civil service convenience by responding to duty calls in real time (voice and visual ARS), automatically connecting to relevant complaint-handling agencies such as the five autonomous districts and the General Construction Headquarters, or forwarding to the responsible department. With the introduction of the 'AI Dangjigi,' Gwangju abolished the employee duty system and proved its efficiency by assigning dedicated personnel to the 24-hour Disaster and Safety Situation Room for integrated operation.
