Checking Crop Growth Status and Listening to Farmers' Opinions
On the 7th, Yeongam County Governor Woo Seunghee visited farms in Sijong-myeon where the '2025 Garlic Contract Cultivation Pilot Project' is underway, to inspect the growth status of the crops by field and listen to the opinions of farmers.
According to the county on the 8th, this pilot project is a win-win model based on cooperation between local farmers and businesses. It aims to provide consumers with safe and fresh food, ensure stable income for farmers, and supply high-quality raw materials to companies, thereby establishing a sustainable agricultural production system.

Last October, the county signed an agreement with three garlic farms and the local company Saeachim Nongsan to carry out contract cultivation of garlic on a 1.1-hectare scale as part of the pilot project.
At the time of the agreement, the company requested that farmers use the 'cultivation plot' method to ensure uniform garlic quality and promised to pay a garlic price 10% higher than the market price at harvest.
On this day, the farmers met with Governor Woo Seunghee and requested support for garlic cultivation needs, such as water supply for drought, ahead of the May harvest season.
Governor Woo Seunghee said, "I hope garlic farms will create a win-win model that resolves the price instability of agricultural specialty products through cooperation between farms and companies," and suggested, "It would be good to expand this successful case to other seasoning vegetables and try selling Yeongam seasoning packages during kimchi-making season."
Yeongam County plans to expand the successful settlement case of the garlic contract cultivation model to other agricultural products such as onions and ginger in the future.
