On this day, the ‘Future Value Presentation’ was conducted by Im Seong-min, head of the Bus Policy Team, under the theme ‘Uijeongbu Bus, Changing the Flow of the City.’

Team Leader Im emphasized the importance of bus policy, stating, “Cities grow through flow, and public transportation is the city’s bloodstream.” Uijeongbu’s buses are a representative means of transportation used by an average of 200,000 people daily, serving as a central axis that moves citizens’ daily lives and the local economy. The city regards a smooth bus usage environment as the starting point of urban competitiveness and focuses on building a sustainable transportation system and improving citizen-centered public transportation services based on this.

First, to alleviate commuting congestion for workers, the city introduced the metropolitan bus route 1205 and the Seoul companion bus, considering fast travel and transfer convenience, and increased 18 buses (metropolitan, city, and village buses) across seven routes.

Additionally, the Gosan district was designated as a ‘Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Intensive Management Zone,’ and city bus route 106-1 was newly established to ease inconveniences in transportation-disadvantaged areas. Furthermore, as part of transportation policies prioritizing public interest, the city implemented a public management system for city buses and introduced Uijeongbu Public Bus Uijeongbu 01 and Uijeongbu Ttok Bus to enhance accessibility and punctuality. In particular, by operating student school buses, the city strengthened educational accessibility and secured safe mobility rights for future generations.

At the event, a sharing activity was also held to support victims of large-scale wildfires in the Yeongnam region. The city collected voluntary donations and goods from citizens, city employees, and related organizations to support disaster victims and restore affected areas. Notably, executives of the labor unions for public officials, public workers, and security guards within city hall also participated in the fundraising, contributing to the creation of a community culture where labor and management cooperate. The total amount raised was 49,461,000 KRW, including 43,821,000 KRW in cash donations and 564,000 KRW in goods, which will be used to support residents and recovery efforts in the affected areas.

As a pre-event, Seo Jeong-beom, an administrative officer from the Autonomous Administration Division, performed a talent-donation singing performance, creating a warm atmosphere. Mayor Kim Dong-geun added significance by awarding commendations and certificates to 33 individuals, including those who contributed to the activation of the Hometown Love Donation System and exemplary citizens.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, “We will establish a transportation system for Uijeongbu citizens to set the city’s flow straight and create practical transportation policies so that citizens can use public transportation more conveniently in their daily lives. Even with limited resources, we will prioritize the value of citizen mobility and realize the public nature of transportation.”
