Inspection and Maintenance of 157 Reservoirs, Wells, Water Supply and Drainage Channels, and Farm Roads
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province is conducting a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of agricultural infrastructure within its jurisdiction to support stable farming activities for local farmers ahead of the full-scale spring farming season.
This inspection covers all agricultural infrastructure in the area, including a total of 157 reservoirs, wells, water supply channels, drainage channels, and farm roads.
The focus of the safety inspection is on the aging condition of facilities, water storage rates, structural safety, and water supply capacity, with the aim of ensuring a stable supply of agricultural water, convenience for farming activities, and prevention of safety accidents.
In particular, to prevent water shortages for agriculture due to drought, the current water storage rates of each reservoir are checked regularly, and tailored maintenance is being carried out focusing on the actual needs of farmers, such as removing sediment and repairing water supply and drainage channels, as well as maintaining access roads to rice paddies.
County Governor Sim Min stated, "Due to ongoing abnormal weather and climate change, the role of agricultural infrastructure has become more important than ever," and added, "Through proactive maintenance and inspection, we will minimize damage from natural disasters such as droughts and heavy rainfall, and create a stable farming environment."
