Promotion of Incentive Program for Companies Hiring Those Aged 50 and Above
7 Billion KRW Invested, Support Ranging from 1.8 Million to 5.5 Million KRW
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) has set a target to support the recruitment of 300 participants in the Middle-aged Internship Program this year.
On the 8th, Busan City announced that it will actively promote the Middle-aged Internship Program to expand reemployment opportunities for the middle-aged generation.
The Middle-aged Internship Program is an employment incentive initiative that provides partial wage subsidies to companies hiring job seekers aged 50 or older.
Through the Busan Senior Job Support Center, the implementing agency, the program offers middle-aged citizens seeking new jobs the opportunity to participate in internships for a certain period. The aim is to connect companies with quality talent and to match skilled human resources to appropriate positions in the era of a super-aged society.
This year, the Middle-aged Internship Program will be implemented with a total budget of 700 million KRW (600 million KRW from the national government and 100 million KRW from Busan Bank), and will be operated as both the 'Busan 50 Plus(+) Internship' and the 'Senior Internship.'
The Busan 50+ Internship provides up to 1.8 million KRW per person to companies that newly hire workers aged 50 to 64.
The Senior Internship offers on-the-job training to job seekers aged 60 and above, and provides up to 5.5 million KRW per person to companies that hire them.
Through the Busan Senior Job Support Center, Busan City conducted a selection process for participating companies in the first half of this year, selecting 50 companies for the Busan 50+ Internship and connecting them with 50 interns.
The selected job fields are diverse, including ▲ shipbuilding and marine equipment manufacturing ▲ transportation equipment manufacturing ▲ food and wholesale/retail ▲ healthcare, welfare, and transportation industries.
As of the end of March, about 100 employees are participating in the Senior Internship at 33 companies, and an additional 150 participants are planned to be connected by the end of the year.
The selected job fields include ▲ construction ▲ education services ▲ business facility management and business support services, among others.
For more details about the recruitment of participating companies, support content, and application methods, refer to the 50+ Busan Portal.
Companies that plan to convert participants to full-time employees after the internship period will be given priority in selection as participating companies in the Middle-aged Internship Program.
Jung Taegi, Director of the Busan City Department of Social Welfare, said, "This program allows middle-aged job seekers and local companies to build mutual understanding of job roles and trust in human resources through an adaptation period, creating a win-win situation. We will do our best to greatly expand support for middle-aged employment."
