Introducing Incentives to Establish a Genuine Safety Culture
BS Hanyang is changing its safety management approach by partnering with its subcontractors. Moving away from the traditional headquarters-led method, it has established a safety management system in which the subcontractors' Chief Safety Officers (CSOs) directly participate.
BS Hanyang recently held the launch ceremony of the 'Win-Win Safety and Health Council' at its headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, the company announced on the 8th. CSOs and safety officers from 22 subcontractors attended. Going forward, they will conduct monthly training and inspections on their own and share best practices and improvement points during quarterly meetings.
In addition to training and consulting, BS Hanyang has introduced incentives. Outstanding subcontractors will receive awards, which will also be reflected in comprehensive evaluations. The aim is to prioritize effectiveness over formality.

The core of this council is joint responsibility rather than responsibility dispersion. Moving beyond the traditional site safety management method led by BS Hanyang, subcontractor CSOs and officers can directly inspect sites and request improvements.
A BS Hanyang official said, "By working as one team with subcontractors, we will share experience and capabilities to make safety activities genuinely helpful. We will further strengthen win-win cooperation with subcontractors and create a safety culture model that leads the industry."
Meanwhile, BS Hanyang is also enhancing its technical responses. Since this year, BS Hanyang has mandated smart airbags and emergency alert bells at all sites. In the first half of this year, AI surveillance cameras (CCTV) will be gradually introduced to monitor real-time incidents such as falls and failure to wear protective gear.
