Gokseong County Conducts Mass Vaccination Against Bovine Lumpy Skin Disease Gokseong County will conduct a mass vaccination of the Lumpy Skin Disease prevention vaccine for all cattle farms in the area until the 28th. Provided by Gokseong County

Gokseong County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Jo Sangrae) announced on the 8th that it will conduct a mass vaccination campaign against Lumpy Skin Disease for all cattle farms in the county until the 28th.

Lumpy Skin Disease is a disease that affects only cattle, causing systemic skin lesions that lead to a significant decrease in productivity, such as reduced milk yield, emaciation, hide damage, abortion, and infertility. It is classified as a Category 1 livestock infectious disease.

This mass vaccination campaign will target all 22,965 Korean native cattle, beef cattle, and dairy cows in Gokseong. Calves under 90 days old and cows in late pregnancy are exempt from vaccination. For small-scale farms with fewer than 50 cattle, a public veterinarian will visit and administer the vaccine. For commercial farms with 50 or more cattle, self-vaccination is required and must be completed by the 14th.

An official from the county stated, "There has not been a single case of Lumpy Skin Disease in Gokseong so far," and added, "However, since Foot-and-Mouth Disease has recently been reported for the first time in South Jeolla Province, we will do our utmost to ensure that not a single animal is missed during this mass vaccination campaign."
