Preventing 26 Cases of Voice Phishing
in IBK Industrial Bank's Preliminary Test
SK Telecom announced on the 8th that it has developed an integrated anomaly detection service using its AI cybersecurity technology 'ScamVanguard' and applied it to IBK Industrial Bank's AI service 'A.Dot'.
This service links communication information with financial data to analyze voice phishing risks in real time and enables proactive measures such as blocking transfers and withdrawals. It applies four AI technologies: AI bait message detection, phishing chat detection, voice phishing call pattern analysis, and identity verification analysis. SKT has advanced ScamVanguard and applied it to the financial customer protection enhancement solution package ‘SurPASS’, which it developed in-house.
During a two-week preliminary test, IBK Industrial Bank prevented 26 cases of voice phishing, avoiding losses of approximately 590 million KRW. On A.Dot, warning messages were provided for 190,000 suspected voice phishing calls over one month. It contributes to preventing fraud by detecting phone numbers impersonating credit card deliveries, which have recently surged, and warning users in advance.
Jongmin Lee, head of SKT Future R&D, stated, "We plan to further develop a more sophisticated anomaly detection solution by integrating communication and financial phishing information."
