Entering the Secondhand Market... 'Musinsa Used' Launching in the Second Half

Official Launch in the Third Quarter
Utilizing a 'Consignment Storage Sales' Format

Musinsa announced on the 8th that it will officially launch the recommerce service ‘Musinsa Used (MUSINSA USED)’ for trading fashion secondhand products in the third quarter.

Entering the Secondhand Market... 'Musinsa Used' Launching in the Second Half

Musinsa plans to introduce buying and selling functions for secondhand products within the Musinsa application (app) itself, rather than a separate platform, so that members can experience reliable and convenient secondhand transactions. To this end, Musinsa filed a related trademark application in February and added ‘wholesale and retail of secondhand products and sales brokerage’ to its business objectives through a shareholders' meeting in March.

Musinsa aims to explore new business opportunities from the perspective of the ‘circular economy,’ which increases the circulation of fashion products and creates additional value. Previously, Musinsa provided a secondhand marketplace service 10 years ago in 2015, supporting secondhand product transactions with enhanced security limited to certified members within the community.

Musinsa will implement a function that allows its 15 million members to freely buy and sell fashion and accessory products within the app. To enhance convenience, it will utilize a ‘consignment storage sales’ format, where customers place the products they want to sell into a collection bag, which is then picked up and merchandised.

Any Musinsa member can easily organize their wardrobe through the secondhand product collection service without going through complicated processes such as taking photos or writing sales posts separately. Musinsa plans to inspect the collected products for contamination and damage.

Meanwhile, Musinsa is developing a system that supports secondhand transactions of fashion and accessories from more than 15,000 brands, regardless of whether they are officially partnered or not, so that members can experience a wide range of products. New products and secondhand items from partnered brands will be displayed separately to avoid simultaneous exposure.

A Musinsa representative said, “Because the fashion market rapidly changes according to customer preferences and trends, demand for products varies widely, and Musinsa members have continuously inquired about the introduction of a secondhand transaction service. Based on the purchasing experiences and preferred brand data accumulated from fashion enthusiasts since the community days over 10 years ago, Musinsa Used will provide convenience and reliability.”
