Large-scale Administrative District Reorganization After About 115 Years
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will carry out an administrative district reorganization project across the entire city for the first time in about 115 years, aiming to improve citizens' convenience and enhance the efficiency of administrative services.
The current administrative districts were established during the land survey project in 1910. Due to urbanization and industrialization, actual administrative boundaries have changed with shifts in living areas, but these changes have not been reflected in official records, resulting in ongoing inconvenience for citizens and inefficiency in administration.
To ensure efficient reorganization, the city plans to adjust administrative districts based on living areas. In particular, to minimize any inconvenience or conflict that may arise from these changes, the city will carefully review citizens' opinions and reflect them in the process.
The administrative district reorganization project is planned to be carried out over three years from 2025 to 2027, with the first year targeting 172 lots in 12 districts.
The city aims for this project to go beyond simply adjusting administrative boundaries, seeking to provide citizens with a more comfortable and convenient living environment and to lay the foundation for a sustainable and continuously developing city.
Mayor Park Dongsik said, "This project will serve as an important cornerstone to resolve citizens' inconveniences and build a sustainable city," adding, "We will provide citizens with a better quality of life and more convenient administrative services."
