Yeongdeungpo-gu to Award Up to 1 Million Won for Discovering Small Parking Lots on Leftover Land

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will activate the discovery of small vacant land parking lots to alleviate parking difficulties in residential areas and provide rewards to residents who contribute.

The reward amount varies according to the size of the created parking lot: ▲ 200,000 KRW for 1-5 spaces ▲ 300,000 KRW for 6-10 spaces ▲ 500,000 KRW for 11-20 spaces ▲ 1,000,000 KRW for 21 or more spaces. However, the annual payment limit per person is 2,000,000 KRW, and landowners, their direct ascendants/descendants, and spouses are excluded from eligibility.

Since 2012, the district has been promoting a project to create small vacant land parking lots using idle sites and currently operates 23 locations with 701 spaces. Last year, to efficiently discover new target sites, the ordinance was revised, and from this year, a reward payment system was introduced to encourage more active participation.

Interested residents can download the application form from the “Our District News” bulletin board on the district website and submit it via email or mail, or visit the Parking Culture Division to apply in person.

Last year, the district newly created small vacant land parking lots totaling 63 spaces in Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo-dong, and Daerim-dong, and held an idea contest for expanding parking lots, striving to practically resolve parking difficulties in residential areas.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We will continue to expand projects that residents can participate in together to improve the parking environment in daily life.”
