"Remembering the Help We Once Received...
Now It's Our Turn to Step Forward"
Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province has delivered a donation of 26,710,000 KRW to the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea to support residents affected by the large-scale wildfires in the northern region of North Gyeongsang.
According to Gimcheon City on the 7th, this donation was raised through the voluntary participation of all city hall employees and aims to help residents who suffered sudden wildfire damage quickly return to their daily lives.
Gimcheon City has not forgotten the warm support it received from across the country during Typhoon Rusa in 2002 and Typhoon Maemi in 2003. The city explained that there was a natural consensus to express gratitude for the help received back then by raising this donation.
Bae Nakho, Mayor of Gimcheon, stated, "Although it is a small gesture, I hope it will be of help to the affected residents," adding, "Gimcheon City will continue to practice the values of sharing and coexistence, standing together with neighbors in need."
Meanwhile, as dry weather continues, Gimcheon City is strengthening patrols in wildfire-prone areas and pre-deploying firefighting personnel and equipment, making every effort to prevent wildfires.
