Over 30 Companies Participate
Laying the Foundation for Future Strategic Industries

Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province has designated the carbon materials industry as a key regional growth engine and has begun full-scale support for businesses in this sector.

On the 4th, the city held the "2025 Artificial Graphite and Carbon Materials Business Support Project Briefing" at the Artificial Graphite Application Technology Research Center in the Gumi National Industrial Complex 5, introducing a variety of support measures for carbon materials companies both within and outside the region.


More than 30 related companies from Gumi and North Gyeongsang Province attended the event, and on-site, customized consultations for businesses were conducted in collaboration with the Hybrid Components Research Institute of Gyeongbuk Technopark.


The briefing detailed this year's major initiatives, including: ▲ National commercialization support for innovative technologies in the Gyeongbuk carbon industry ▲ Establishment of a testbed for artificial graphite used in semiconductors and secondary batteries ▲ Creation of a lab factory for carbon material components for defense and aerospace industries.


In particular, pre-consultations and Q&A sessions involving direct participation from companies facilitated communication, ensuring that voices from the field could be reflected in policy.


Gumi City plans to promote technological independence and industrial advancement centered on the carbon materials industry and to expand practical support that businesses can truly experience.


Hong Sanghyeon, Director of Strategic Industries at Gumi City, stated, "Carbon materials are essential for future high-tech industries and are the key to enhancing the competitiveness of Gumi's industry," adding, "We will do our utmost to support the improvement of companies' technological capabilities and commercialization in cooperation with research institutions."
