Kim Seon-min, Acting Leader of the Joguk Innovation Party,
Calls for the Formation of a 'Special Investigation Committee on Anti-Constitutional Acts'
On the 7th, the Joguk Innovation Party expressed a negative stance on Woo Won-sik, the Speaker of the National Assembly's proposal to hold the presidential election and the constitutional amendment referendum simultaneously. They stated that 'suppressing the insurrection' should take priority.
Kim Seon-min, Acting Leader of the Innovation Party, said at the party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, "The Innovation Party fundamentally agrees deeply with the necessity of constitutional amendment," but added, "Ending the insurrection and eradicating the insurrection forces must come first."
As the reason for opposing the timing of the constitutional amendment, he pointed out that "the insurrection has not been completely ended," and "Yoon Seok-yeol still claims the legitimacy of so-called martial law, and forces supporting this still exist, while the public's anxiety and anger have not subsided."
Regarding the constitutional amendment, Acting Leader Kim proposed, "I suggest launching the National Assembly's Constitutional Amendment Special Committee immediately after the early presidential election," and added, "It is realistic to hold the constitutional amendment referendum together with next year's local elections."
The Innovation Party urged the formation of a 'Special Investigation Committee on Anti-Constitutional Acts' concerning the end of the insurrection. Acting Leader Kim stated, "An independent body should be established to launch the Anti-Constitutional Special Committee to thoroughly investigate the realities of the insurrection," and added, "A special prosecution for the insurrection should also be conducted."
