At the Democratic Party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on the 7th, Floor Leader Park stated, "There is an estimate from the National Assembly Budget Office that a staggering 494.942 billion won will be spent on the presidential by-election following the impeachment of Yoon Seok-yeol."

Park said, "The People Power Party has consistently protected Yoon Seok-yeol, the No. 1 party member, from the declaration of martial law to his impeachment, and even colluded with the insurrection," adding, "They did not even take disciplinary actions such as expelling Yoon Seok-yeol from the party."

He continued, "Of the eight bills proposed in the 21st National Assembly to strengthen the responsibility of those who caused the by-elections, seven were submitted by the People Power Party," and said, "It is the duty to the people not to field a candidate in an election caused by the mistakes of one’s own party and its No. 1 member."

He also raised pressure on Han Duck-soo, Acting President and Prime Minister. Park said, "To uphold the Constitution, the nomination of Ma Eun-hyuk as a Constitutional Court justice must be made immediately," and added, "Any greed to sneakily appoint a presidential nominee to the Constitutional Court must be abandoned."

He further emphasized, "(Prime Minister Han) should promptly announce the presidential election date and declare political neutrality," and said, "He must also immediately prepare a supplementary budget for people’s livelihood and start consultations with the National Assembly."

He stated, "There are suspicions of evidence destruction related to the insurrection as it has been revealed that a former administrative officer from the Yoon Seok-yeol government was appointed to oversee presidential records," and urged, "Since a criminal trial on the insurrection is underway, we call for a complete ban on sealing related records."

He added, "Personnel appointments for high-ranking officials, public institutions, quasi-governmental organizations, and other public agencies must be completely frozen until the new government takes office," and stressed, "Especially, the practice of placing or parachuting personnel involved in or who worked for the Yoon government must be completely stopped."

Finally, he said, "The Democratic Party will thoroughly investigate the entire personnel process, including recruitment, and hold all those involved in unfair or illegal cases responsible."
