A case occurred in Dangjin, Chungnam, where a car driver drove on the road with a large dog hanging from the trunk, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to reports from the Dangjin Police Station in Chungnam and Yonhap News on the 6th, the police are conducting an initial investigation into driver A, who drove with a large dog hanging from the trunk.
According to the police, A was found to have driven with a large dog hanging from the trunk on a road in Daedeok-dong, Dangjin-si, Chungnam, around 1 p.m. that day. Video footage secured by the police shows A opening the trunk of a white passenger car, tying the large dog with a rope, leaving it unattended, and driving as is.
The large dog, presumed to be a 'Chow Chow,' is a native Chinese breed with a large body weighing up to 32 kg. The dog's lower body was exposed directly to the asphalt road without any movement and was dragged along, with scenes of dust rising due to the high driving speed also captured.
A 30-year-old witness who reported to the police said, "Other cars were honking their horns wildly in protest, and at first, I was very startled because I didn't know what it was," adding, "When I got closer to check, I was very shocked to see a large dog hanging."
A police official stated, "The investigation confirmed that the dog was alive, and the driver's identity has been identified," adding, "We plan to file charges for violation of the Animal Protection Act after further investigating A's movement route, the exact breed, and evidence of animal abuse to ascertain the precise circumstances."
