Jungnang-gu Opens 2nd Education Center for Lifelong Learning for People with Developmental Disabilities Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) held an opening ceremony for the 'Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities, 2nd Education Center' on the 4th. Through the opening of this 2nd education center, the district plans to further strengthen educational programs that support the independence of adults with developmental disabilities.


The opening ceremony was attended by about 50 people, including Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu, students of the Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities, and their parents. The 2nd education center was established at 10 Dongil-ro 136-gil (Cheongwon Damiso Apartment Shopping Mall, Unit 501) as part of Jungnang-gu's continuous efforts to help people with developmental disabilities achieve independence and social participation.


Since its opening in 2019, the Jungnang-gu Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities has operated various programs to support the independence of people with developmental disabilities. The new 2nd education center was created to provide educational opportunities to more people with disabilities alongside the existing facility.


At the 2nd education center, tailored education such as ▲daily living training ▲independence support ▲social adaptation training for people with developmental disabilities will be systematically provided. The district aims to expand support for independence and social participation of people with developmental disabilities by offering diverse education and programs, thereby further promoting integration with the local community.


In addition to regular education, various daily programs such as ▲Master of Organization ▲Handicraft will be offered concurrently to provide practical skills that can be applied in everyday life.


Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “With the opening of the 2nd education center, people with developmental disabilities will have better opportunities for education and independence,” adding, “We will continue to provide various supports so that people with developmental disabilities can confidently establish themselves as members of society and grow together with the local community.”


In celebration of the 45th Disability Day, the district will operate the ‘3rd Jungnang-gu Disability Empathy Week’ from April 21 to 25. On the first day, a commemorative ceremony, a job fair for people with disabilities, and disability empathy booths will be held. On the second day, a sports event for people with disabilities will take place. From the third day onward, cultural performances aimed at raising awareness of disabilities will be held in the underground auditorium of Jungnang-gu Office.
