Book Talk with Announcer Lee Geumhee, Booknic Zone, and Reading Bus Among the Highlights
One-Day Event on April 12; Library Week Programs Continue at District Libraries Until April 18
This weekend, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Seokchon Lake in Songpa-gu will transform into a special reading experience venue.
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that on April 12, 2025, it will hold ‘Haengbook(BOOK)han Songpa’ at Seokchon Lake to celebrate Library Day 2025.
The theme of this event is ‘Mongyudowon (夢遊圖園), a Dreaming and Enjoying Library Garden.’ To mark Library Day, various programs combining reading and nature have been prepared.
The event will take place around the east and west lakes of Seokchon Lake. Starting with a commemorative ceremony at 2 p.m. at the ‘Atelier,’ a book talk by announcer Lee Geum-hee will follow. The book talk, under the theme ‘Warm Comfort Offered by Books,’ will be a relaxed opportunity for residents to share their curiosities about books and words. Applications can be made on the Songpa-gu Integrated Library website until April 9.
At Seokchon Lake West Lake, exhibitions and experiences will be held from 12 noon. Unique spaces themed around key words will be operated, including ▲ Dreaming Library Transcription Experience ‘Mong (夢)’ ▲ Enjoying Library Book MBTI ‘Yu (遊)’ ▲ Our Neighborhood Library Color Painting ‘Do (圖)’ ▲ Warm Sentence Exhibition ‘Won (園)’.
On the West Lake grass stairs, visitors can find the ‘Booknic Zone,’ where they can enjoy books and relaxation simultaneously. A curated bookshelf, bean bags, and an Indian tent are installed, allowing visitors to freely read books and spend leisurely time against the backdrop of blooming spring flowers and the lake.
Additionally, various programs such as ▲ Public Library Promotion Booth ▲ Slow Mailbox (Letters to Myself in September) ▲ Reading Culture Promotion Campaign Booth and Photo Zone will offer participants a special cultural experience.
At the East Lake, visitors can enjoy reading culture experience programs such as storytelling, making personalized badges, and bookmarks through the ‘Reading Bus.’
Furthermore, to celebrate Library Week, the district will continue various special programs such as exhibitions and lectures at 11 public libraries until April 18.
Mayor Seo Gang-seok stated, “Through this event, we hope residents can enjoy healing by savoring the leisure that books and nature provide,” and added, “Songpa-gu will continue to offer diverse cultural experiences through books.”
