The People Power Party stated on the 6th that "the party's position remains unchanged" regarding the constitutional amendment referendum on the presidential election date proposed by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik. Kwon Young-se, the emergency response committee chairman, told reporters at the National Assembly that day, "Our party members participating in the constitutional amendment and forming the parliamentary constitutional amendment special committee will be recommended by the floor leader," expressing willingness to engage in the constitutional amendment discussions.

Chairman Kwon added, "The proposals under discussion will be presented by the party's constitutional amendment special committee," emphasizing, "We cannot just rubber-stamp the proposals made there." Floor spokesperson Seo Ji-young added, "Since discussions on the timing, schedule, and content of the (constitutional amendment) have not yet been sufficiently conducted within the party's constitutional amendment special committee, we will inform you after further discussions."
Presidential candidates within the party also advocated the necessity of constitutional amendment. Former leader Han Dong-hoon said, "A constitutional amendment is absolutely necessary to align the start and end of the presidential and National Assembly members' terms," emphasizing, "We promise to shorten the term by three years and will keep that promise." He added, "The Democratic Party's Lee Jae-myung is a pro-status quo force opposing constitutional amendment," and said, "If the People Power Party candidate becomes president, there is a high possibility of agreeing to constitutional amendment."
Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo argued, "We must amend the constitution next year to supplement the shortcomings of the 1987 system," emphasizing, "Our party's primary candidates and the final candidate for the general election should also pledge constitutional amendment as part of their platforms."
Choi Hyung-doo, a member of the People Power Party's constitutional amendment special committee, stressed, "We must end the 1987 ancien r?gime," and added, "The constitutional amendment vote should be held together with the presidential election." The special committee has been discussing a one-point constitutional amendment for the 'four-year presidential term with a single re-election' to decentralize presidential powers, as well as introducing parliamentary dissolution rights and a bicameral legislature to prevent abuse of parliamentary authority.
