Emergency Procurement of Tractors, Sprayers, and More
Sequential Support Begins on the 14th
Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province is launching a support program worth a total of 5.5 billion KRW to provide rental agricultural machinery to local farmers affected by the recent large-scale wildfire. The city plans to rapidly expand its inventory of both short- and long-term rental equipment and prioritize supplying these to affected farms ahead of the main farming season.
Gyeongbuk Andong City accelerates recovery by renting agricultural machinery to farms affected by wildfires.
According to Andong City, the wildfire damaged a total of 1,097 hectares of crops and destroyed around 2,200 pieces of agricultural machinery. Farmers who suffered damages are now facing significant setbacks in resuming their farming activities.
In response, Andong City has urgently allocated a budget of 5.5 billion KRW, with 3.5 billion KRW designated for long-term rental agricultural machinery support at the village level and 2 billion KRW for expanding short-term rental equipment.
Starting on the 14th, the city will sequentially supply key equipment, including 500 walking tractors and 500 portable power sprayers, focusing on villages most affected by the wildfire.
For short-term rentals, additional tractors, SS machines (speed sprayers), and ride-on weeders will be secured and distributed to rental service centers, where they will be provided free of charge to affected farmers. These farmers will be given priority over general applicants to help them return to farming as quickly as possible.
Andong City Mayor Kwon Gichang stated, "We are mobilizing all administrative resources to help the farmers who are suffering from the wildfire damage return to their livelihoods as soon as possible," adding, "We will lead a swift recovery to daily life through practical support that reflects the voices from the field."
