This newly established tournament is hosted by DGB Financial Group and organized by KLPGA, with a total prize pool of 1 billion KRW and a winner's prize of 180 million KRW.
The tournament will be played in a four-round, 72-hole stroke play format, with 120 top domestic female golfers, including Park Hyunkyung, Kim Suji, Lee Yewon, Park Jiyeong, and Hwang Yumin, competing for the title.
This event is being held as part of a three-year consecutive hosting agreement between Gumi City, iM Bank, and Golfzon County Sunsan. It is expected to serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy, going beyond a simple sports event.
The city expects significant economic impact within the region as spending flows into various sectors such as accommodation, dining, transportation, and tourism during the tournament period.
Additionally, Gumi City is making thorough preparations to provide convenience for spectators. During the tournament, a gallery parking lot will be operated in front of the LG BCM factory at 6 San, Jeokrim-ri, Sandong-eup, and shuttle buses will help visitors access the tournament venue.
In particular, on the 12th and 13th, shuttle buses will also circulate major apartment complexes in Sandong-eup, further improving accessibility for citizens.
A Gumi City official stated, "This tournament will be a turning point for Gumi as it aims to become a city that integrates sports and culture," and added, "We will widely promote Gumi's appeal to golf fans nationwide and enhance the value of our regional brand by continuously attracting tournaments."
Meanwhile, the 'iM Geumyung Open' is the first tournament to kick off this season's KLPGA, and it is expected to put Gumi in the national spotlight among golf fans.
