SK Telecom announced on the 6th that Emart has joined the 'Grandata' project as a new participant. Grandata is a private data integration project launched in 2021 to enable efficient use of corporate data. Participants include SKT, SK Broadband, Shinhan Card, Korea Credit Bureau (KCB), and Kakao Mobility.
With the addition of Emart, a major retail corporation, synergies with existing telecommunications, finance, and broadcasting sectors are expected to increase. Emart plans to provide data such as consumer information from Shinsegae Point affiliated stores used by 24 million members and Emart product data. This data can help build efficient distribution networks and is used in the public sector to understand consumption characteristics of vulnerable groups.
Additionally, through the global data cloud company 'Snowflake,' Emart will diversify sales channels and actively expand its business. The Grandata datasets will be supplied to Snowflake's data trading platform, 'Data Marketplace,' via the supply partner 'SPH.' This collaboration is expected to increase data sales channels targeting foreign companies.
Park Jun, Vice President and Head of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intelligence Business Division at SK Telecom, said, "Data is the oil of the 21st century. In particular, Grandata offers many opportunities for use in various fields such as social welfare and marketing," adding, "We will continue to collaborate with many partners to contribute to the development of the domestic data industry."
Members of the private data cooperation alliance 'Grandata' held a business agreement ceremony with Emart on the 3rd and took a commemorative photo.
